Pului \u201cPrayer book for Russ people\u201d (Vienna, 1871) clearly demonstrates the intention of the translator to embody the concept of the new Ukrainian literary language that would organically combine its two regional versions &#8211; the Dnieper and Galician. That very approach was subsequently implemented in the translation of the Bible, on which I. Pului worked together with P. Kulish. We can assume that herewith I. Pului has directly followed the prescriptions of P. Kulish, or the translation has been edited by the writer. Thus, the language of \u201cThe prayer book\u201d combines the features of different Ukrainian dialects (north and eastern (prepositions and prefixes \u043e\u0434, \u0437\u043e-, \u043d\u0430\u0434\u043e-, \u0432\u0456\u0434\u043e-; soft group of adjectives: \u0432\u0456\u0447\u043d\u0456\u0439, \u0433\u0440\u0456\u0445\u043e\u0432\u043d\u0456\u0439; form of third person of pronouns with adverbs without opening \u043d (\u0434\u043e \u0456\u043e\u0433\u043e, \u0432 \u0456\u043e\u043c\u0443), south-eastern forms of nouns in Dative case with -\u043e\u0432\u0456, -\u0435\u0432\u0456 as opposed to western -\u043e\u0432\u0438, -\u0435\u0432\u0438); western features [\u0456] instead of [\u043e], [\u0435], [\u0438] (\u043f\u0456\u043c\u0441\u0442\u043e\u044e, \u0442\u0440\u0456\u0432\u043e\u0436\u0430\u0442\u044c, \u043a\u0440\u0456\u0432\u0430\u0432\u0438\u0445), \u043e\u0433\u043e\u043d\u044c and derivatives without prosthesis, comparatives with suffix -\u0456\u0449- without <strong><b>\u0439<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0(\u0447\u0435\u0441\u043d\u0456\u0449\u0443, \u0441\u043b\u0430\u0432\u043d\u0456\u0449\u0443), etc.<\/p>\n<p>The impact of P. Kulish is also noticeable in the use of linguistic techniques to create high style, suitable for liturgic and prayer texts. This was contributed by the consistent use of archaic, morphological and grammatical forms, vocabulary typical to Old Ukrainian language and partially preserved in some dialects. Thus, the distinctive feature of this translation is the consistent use of archaic forms: active participles of present and past time (\u0436\u0438\u0432\u043e\u0442\u0432\u043e\u0440\u044f\u0449\u0438\u0439, \u043f\u043b\u0430\u0447\u0443\u0449\u0438\u0439; \u0440\u043e\u0434\u0438\u0432\u0448\u0430, \u044f\u0432\u0438\u0432\u0448\u0438\u0439\u0441\u044f), passive past participle (\u043f\u0440\u0438\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0438\u043c\u0456, \u0441\u043b\u0430\u0432\u0438\u043c\u0438\u0439, \u043f\u043e\u043a\u043b\u043e\u043d\u044f\u0454\u043c\u0438\u0439); personal archaic form of the verb to be (\u0454\u0441\u0438, \u0454\u0441\u0442\u044c) and forms of perfect (\u043f\u043e\u043b\u044e\u0431\u0438\u0432 \u0454\u0441\u0438, \u043e\u0431\u0434\u0430\u0440\u0438\u0432 \u0454\u0441\u0438, \u044f\u0432\u0438\u0432 \u0454\u0441\u0438) archaic imperative forms of verb (\u0443\u043c\u043d\u043e\u0436\u0438, \u0438\u0441\u043f\u0440\u0430\u0432\u0438, \u0443\u043c\u043e\u043b\u0438; \u043f\u0440\u0438\u0439\u0434\u0456\u0442\u0435, \u0445\u0432\u0430\u043b\u0456\u0442\u0435). Among the most expressive morphological and phonetic signs there are forms without phonetically expected sound-change of [o], [e] into [i] in the newly created closed syllables and unstressed open syllables (\u0431\u0456\u0441\u043e\u0432\u0441\u044c\u043a\u0430, \u0440\u0435\u043a, \u043d\u0435\u043c\u043e\u0447\u043d\u0438\u043c), formants -\u0435\u043d\u043d- (\u0433\u0440\u0456\u0445\u043e\u043f\u0430\u0434\u0435\u043d\u043d\u0454, \u0432\u043e\u0441\u043a\u0440\u0435\u0441\u0435\u043d\u043d\u0454), -\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c (\u043c\u0438\u043b\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c, \u043c\u0430\u0440\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044e, \u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>Keywords:<\/b><\/strong><strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>The first Prayer Book in Ukrainian, I.
