Abstract:<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>Investigated in the article is a real language material \u2013 the texts of conversations caused by the situation of provocated bilingual communication during the focus group study in Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv in order to organize the sociolinguistic survey of Ukrainian language situation and language politics issues. The purpose of this investigation is to study the peculiarities of language code switching and mixing by Ukrainian-Russian and Russian-Ukrainian bilinguals of different age, who live in big cities of Ukrainian regions with different language situation. The results have shown that young people have manifested appropriate language stability that can be mainly explained by their connection with the educational process. Elder people have been more influenced by general language background of the place of living. Presented in the study is the fact that Ukrainian-language conceptualization of the world has also had an influence on speaking Russian by Ukrainians, which can be manifested by using the word “mova” (\u2018language\u2019) originally to indicate the concept of the “Ukrainian language” by Russian-language speakers. At the same time it has been observed the examples of different language units\u2019 mixing, that have not been connected with the process of conceptualization. The linguistic analysis of the texts of different focus-group conversations in the situation of bilingualism may be freely used as a productive method of investigation.<\/p>\n
