Abstract:<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>The semantic and structural analysis of the compound\u00a0adjectives with the first part blaho-<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and the second noun part found in the monuments of Ukrainian language of the 11\u201320th<\/sup>\u00a0centuries is implemented in the article. In particular their origin and ways of borrowing were traced, the semantics and word-formative\u00a0structure in the different periods of the Ukrainian language development were determined, the stylistic function and peculiarities of use were found out.<\/p>\n

Thus, by studying the semantics and structure of compound\u00a0adjectives with the first part blaho<\/b><\/strong>–\u00a0one\u00a0can say that they formed a special group of derivatives that performed an important contextually ideological function.\u00a0The first derivatives of such structure appeared as a result of borrowing from the Old Slavic language, where, in turn, they\u00a0were the Greek calcues. Later, the new adjectives after the fashion of\u00a0the Greek models\u00a0have been\u00a0formed\u00a0on their own verbal base became ingrained in the Old\u00a0Ukrainian language vocabulary. The form of their\u00a0first part blaho<\/b><\/strong>–\u00a0hasn\u2019t changed. Such words can be called \u201cword formulas\u201d. At the same time, the semantics expansion of the adjective \u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u0438\u0439 and the noun \u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u00a0took place that\u00a0enabled\u00a0to expand the motivational base\u00a0by\u00a0involving verbs and nouns.\u00a0Two\u00a0main word-building models were\u00a0formed: 1) adjective + noun + suffix; 2) adverb + adjective. The first component\u00a0of all composites of such\u00a0structure had exclusively positive semantics, preserved\u00a0the old Church Slavonic meaning of an adjective\u00a0\u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u0438\u0439.<\/p>\n

Most of the composites\u00a0with the first component blaho<\/b><\/strong>–\u00a0were found in the monuments of the 11\u201313th<\/sup>\u00a0centuries which is primarily due to the religiosity of the entire culture of that time.\u00a0Much less\u00a0of such composites were found\u00a0in the old Ukrainian\u00a0(Ruthenian)\u00a0days\u00a0while\u00a0their almost complete absence can be stated in modern Ukrainian literary language. This phenomenon is quite motivated. The analyzed composites being\u00a0initially the\u00a0book elements were\u00a0alien to the living folk language, therefore they did not \u201cassimilate\u201d\u00a0to it.<\/p>\n
