This group of names is one of the richest word-formation unit concerning both the number of lexemes and the diversity of word-forming types. The most productive affixal word-forming means and models of nomina agentis forming in researched area are determined. Most of the nomina agentis in the Pokuttia-Bukovyna dialects is formed by both the affixal method and substantivation. It is revealed two largest groups: names formed by the suffix –ник and names formed by the suffix -ар. Both verb derivatives and noun derivatives are formed by these suffixes. These derivatives predominate quantitatively; it confirms the tendency that is inherent to all Slavic language continuum. Particular attention is paid to the forming of women names by actions they do. Nomina agentis with the same semantics but different by word-forming means make word-forming oppositions within dialect. The motivation and genesis of lexemes as additional factors that influence on the appearance of nominative oppositions in this lexico-semantic group are characterized. The most productive motivational model of agent names forming in the Pokuttia-Bukovyna dialects is „object of action → subject of actionˮ. The foreign names from German, Romanian and some West European languages are analyzed. Their adaptation in dialects causes the spreading of foreign language suffixes. Such word-forming formants are the markers of borrowing from other language and point on language-source. This lexico-semantic group is constantly fulfiling by new words but agent craft names pass into the passive vocabulary.

Keywords: nomina agentis, lexico-semantic group, derivational structure, variability, model of motivation, Pokuttia-Bukovyna dialects.

LEGEND

ЕСУM – Etymological Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language.
