Abstract: Grammatical equality, conjunction of predicative parts as immanent features of compound sentences, the implementation by co-ordinating conjunction for their typical use of two grammatical functions of the expressions – coordinating communication and semantic-syntactic relations between the parts are proved in the article. Causes of the weakening of semantic-syntactic functions of coordinating conjunctions compared to the subordinating conjunctions are determined.
The main attention is focused on the analysis of means of formation of six types of semantic-syntactic relations, first of all participation in this process of coordinating conjunctions and lexical meanings of components in combined predicative parts, which allowed to establish their various relations, different from those determined by some Ukrainian linguists. On the basis of established ratios a new typology and a hierarchy of conjunctional compound sentences was suggested, in which compound sentences with partially nonsemantic conjunctions dominate, in the second place compound sentences with semantic conjunctions take the second place, compound sentences with nonsemantic conjunctions take the third place. This three-component typology is an attempt to correct a previously created two-component typology in which the central place is given to compound sentences with semantic unions, and the peripheral to a folding sentence with semantic conjunctions.
Keywords: Conjunctional compound sentences, typology, coordinating conjunctions, compound sentences with partially nonsemantic conjunctions, compound sentences with semantic conjunctions, compound sentences with nonsemantic conjunctions.
