Abstract: The article deals with the problem of reinterpretation of quotes which modern Ukrainian literary language and contemporary Ukrainian poetic practice adopted from Taras Shevchenko’s texts.

From the point of view of methodology modern interpretation of Shevchenko’s texts envisages the understanding of national philosophy and intertextual openness of his poetry. One of aspects of this problem is the studying of Shevchenko’s quotes.

The heuristic value of supervisions above the using of such quotations in contemporary language practice is related to their study as active units of living Ukrainian communication in different functional spheres.

The aspects of researching of Shevchenko’s quotes can be outlined as cognitive, structural, thematic and axiological.

Structural parameters of Shevchenko’s quotes are: format of reinterpretation (graphicly marked / not graphicly marked), position in text (title, epigraph / actually text), degree of maintenance / transforming of precedent lexical-and-semantic or grammatical structure (exact quotes and inexact quotes), resourses of text attribution.

Thematic range of Shevchenko’s quotes closely correlates with a problem ‘themes and reasons’. The most thematic groups formed expression of socio-political, mental and ethical and philosophical content.

It is shown, that Shevchenko’s quotes have ability to separate from the precedent source, acquire some new connotations that are predefined by a sociocultural or sociopolitical situation.

The aim of this study is to demonstrate that Shevchenko’s quotes are active constructive (from the point of text-building and content-building) units of modern Ukrainian poetic text.

The article gives a detailed analysis of lingual-and-cognitive specificity and contextual pragmatics of Shevchenko’s intexts. One of the main ideas of this study is that Shevchenko’s quotes has a specific function of mental consolidation of the Ukrainian poetic language.

Keywords: Shevchenko’s quote, cognitive parameters of quotes, structural format of quotes, thematic groups of quotes, axiological changeableness of quotes.
