Abstract: The article deals with the ways of coining the new political lexicon (periphrastic structures) connected with emerging the essential intralingual (internal necessity in creating new words) and extralingual (participation in politics and Verkhovna Rada work etc.) factors. The author identifies the key periphrastic fields and their semantic meanings, connotative peculiarities, lexical and grammatical specific features at a level of deterministic and determinant constituents and onomasiological markers, and in the form of lexical or contextual implementers, formal and grammatical structures (word phrase, complex sentences). The article described intra-semantic differentiation of descriptive structures for designation of ecclesiastical events (granting autocephaly to the Orthodox Church, obtaining Thomos about autocephaly, the formation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church), church figures (Patriarch / Honorary Patriarch Filaret, Metropolitan Epiphanius), social events (presidential election, snap parliamentary election in Ukraine, political campaigns, their preparation and outcomes), statesmen (Petro Poroshenko, Vladimir Zelensky), political parties “Motherland”, “Servant of the People”, “Opposition Platform – For Life”, “Voice”, Petro Poroshenko’s party “Solidarity “, “People’s Front”, “Ukrainian Association of Patriots – UKROP”), identified significant types, subtypes of peripheral phrases, indicated their possible semantic correlation. It has been revealed that the process of creating descriptive names that characterize the political discourse of events occurring in society is based on traditional (elaborate) and specific (author’s) models, the most common of which are noun-adjective phrases, compound words with substantive-attributive and pronoun-relative predicative parts; it has been proved that the lexical-semantic source of the modern Ukrainian language is constantly changing in accordance with language regulations and receives the appropriate linguistic forms. The task of linguistics implies objective linguistic interpretation of this source.

Keywords: periphrasis, periphrastic field, connotative potential, semantics of secondary names, intra/extra-linguistic factors.
